There is a large engine room beneath. This keeps all the machinery and tankage in the center of the boat making access for maintenance straightforward an easing her motion while improving performance.
WANDERING FARR is an all-ocean cruising vessel equally suited to sailing harbors, coasts or crossing oceans. Designed by Bruce Farr and built to a very high standard by BSI Marine in Sweden. 3-year Refit can be explained in detail upon calling.  Refit includes all mechanical, new diesel, ancillary equipment, electrical, electronics, new carbon rig, new Teak Decking Systems and sails and canvas.  This boat was damaged in Hurricane Irma.  The boat was on-the-hard, did not take on water or sink, and no fires, nor was there any structural damage. The whole Listing conveys that this boat was 100% Refit using  insurance money and owner’s personal funds to make this boat technically improved and better than it was when initially launched. Refit was carefully managed with attention to every detail.  The Owner will provide full Disclosure and records and invoicing to validate this Refit.   *** Also, 11.5' OCTender 350 Hard Tender on davits with 15 Hp electric start outboard.  Yanmar 110 Hp diesel has less than 200 hours.
The owners sailed many miles on her before refit and expected to continue to do so. She comes to market now due to the owners’ plans having to change.

The center cockpit pilothouse design of the Farr 50 Pilothouse provides accommodations for up to eight among three private staterooms and two bunks as well as two heads and two stall showers.

The hull is newly painted in Awlgrip flag blue with clear Awlcraft topcoat (for easy repair should it be required) with gold accent and white boot stripe. Deck is painted in oyster white Awlcraft.
The hull shape is a classic modern cruising hull with a long fin keel, sharp entry and flowing aft sections. The watertight collision bulkheads (for and aft) and the incredible sail locker on the foredeck are two amazing features that make this vessel a much sought-after cruiser.
The hull laminate of the Farr 50 is constructed with a Divinycell core that is fitted using vacuum techniques.  Multiaxial fibers, high-quality isophthalic polyester resins, and two layers of Kevlar aramid create a hull with improved impact resistance and impeccable strength.
An internal bottom grid is laid up over a female mold then laminated into the base of the hull to create a single monolithic structure for additional stiffness and maximum strength.  All shroud chainplates are thru-bolted and reinforced into the main bulkhead.  Careful consideration for the placement of multiaxial laminates and strict adherence to Farr Yacht Design’s specifications ensures all loads of the rigging and deck fittings are properly distributed through the hull.
The keel is solid lead with 4% antimony and 316-L stainless steel bolts cast into the lead and backed with substantial transverse backing plates.  The keel has a winged shape for added performance upwind and excellent stability.
Kevlar Aramid fiber reinforcement integrated into the hull for superior strength and stiffness
Longitudinal and cross beam structural stringers and bulkheads glassed to the stringers and hull sides
Watertight bow section for added safety at sea and collision protection
White Ashland Maxguard NP 10000 isophthalic gelcoat for protection against osmosis.
Barrier epoxy coats under bottom paint (coppercoat) and hull paint.
Stainless steel rub rail to outside of caprail.
Sugar scoop swim platform with teak steps, transom hot/cold shower, and folding swim ladder with boarding assistance pole.
Custom Solid Epoxy Rudder on anodized aluminum stock.
The counterpoise system includes an integral copper screen glassed into the hull laminate, two grounding plates below the hull, and two copper strips running the length of the hull and integrated with the AT-140 automatic single-sideband tuner.
    Bronze ball valve type seacocks.
    DECK
The deck of the Farr 50 is constructed with a Divinycell core, chop strand matting, and unidirectional fibers bonded with isophthalic polyester resins. The deck is mated to the hull with both mechanical fasteners on 6-inch centers through an inward flange, as well as chemical bonding resulting in a very strong hull to deck joint.  The deck is finished with bonded teak planking, no screws.
At the bow, is a sizeable self-bailing chain locker with segmented chain storage. Aft of the chain locker is a very large sail locker with a generous amount of storage for fenders, lines, and equipment. At the stern, a full-beam lazarette with two deck hatches provides additional storage as well as access to the steering gear.  Overall, the Farr 50 has an incredible amount of deck storage!  All deck access hatches have Rondal watertight latches and self-bailing drains.  The forward sail locker and the lazarette also have dedicated automatic bilge pumps with a high water alarm. Both also have a separate high water alarm.
Large chain locker forward with easy access to the windlass motor and chain.
Huge sail locker accessed from the deck provides two watertight collision bulkheads forward (fore and aft of sail locker).
Stern locker across the transom provides watertight bulkhead aft and loads of storage in the Lazarette.
Recent teak deck bonded to sealed deck with no screws.
Teak cap rail and cockpit surround finished with Colean.

This Farr 50 Pilothouse Sailing vessel is lying in Rhode Island, USA.
Rarely do we get the opportunity to list a vessel that shows as well, with total proof that all the work that has happened, is now in 'Turn-Key" condition.   Owner has managed the Refit of this yacht with precision and knowledge.  This boat, with all changes and Upgrades shows better than any new boat, if it was coming off the line today.  No short-cuts here.
More detailed lists of inventory, equipment and work accomplished can be available.
    Comments from Designer/Naval Architect:
A shallow hull with broad, flat sections aft will give great reaching speed and control. With the wind well aft, she will come into her own. However, one problem with shallow hulls like this is that a very small amount of water in the bilge seems like an ocean. Farr overcomes this with a sump at the keel stub to create a spot for the water to accumulate.
Aside from hull shape, control is achieved with a deep, high-aspect rudder that has clearly been developed from many of Bruce Farr's successful racing designs. The high-aspect keel with bulb keeps wetted area low, yet provides good stability with a 35 percent ballast/displacement ratio. In light air, we would expect to see better than average performance due to her sailplan and semi-light displacement. When the wind pipes up, her form stability, low-slung ballast and efficient rudder will provide great control.
