About

The 40.7m (133.5ft) pedigree ketch sailing yacht SURAMA has been meticulously maintained and upgraded and presents in excellent, turnkey condition for both cruising and racing. Delivered by the world-renowned Dutch shipyard Royal Huisman in 1997, she was conceived as a world cruiser capable of self-sufficient, unsupported voyages to the most remote corners of the planet, while her lightweight Lloyd’s-classed aluminium hull delivers rewarding performance in regattas. No expense has been spared on her maintenance and a regular refit programme has ensured that a full service, rebuild or replacement of almost every system and mechanical item has been undertaken recently. She underwent a full refit at Royal Huisman in 2017 and benefitted from extensive winter maintenance in 2018 and 2019. Combining Ted Hood naval architecture, Fontaine exterior design and 217GT of Winch Design interiors, this yacht’s quality and credentials speak for themselves. Her lifting centreboard keel reduces draft from 6.8m (22.3ft) while sailing to 2.9m (9.4ft) to allow access to shallow draft destinations that other yachts cannot reach. SURAMA’s cool, relaxing, modern interior is uncluttered and maximises natural light wherever possible. The deckhouse lounge’s wraparound windows and skylights pour light into the informal dining area where guests can enjoy the views from the comfort of their sofas. Steps lead down to the main saloon which has a large, semi-circular seating area and TV to port and an informal dining area to starboard. The aft cockpit is a versatile space that can be used for al fresco dining, or the table can be collapsed to form a sheltered sunpad platform. Further outdoor seating and dining options are provided between the dual helm stations and the flybridge, sheltered from the sun by a wide bimini. A central section of the aft deck folds down to create a swim platform for easy access to the water. Accommodation is available for up to eight guests in three cabins, all of which open into a central lobby. The split-level owner’s suite is positioned aft and includes a curved sofa on the starboard side and steps leading up to the en suite bathroom to port and private cockpit access. Amidships two mirror image twin cabins, each with a pullman berth and en suite bathroom, lie to port and starboard. When not sailing, SURAMA is powered by two Mercedes 570hp engines, allowing her to cruise at 11 knots with a maximum range of 4,305nm.
